KALAMAZOO, Michigan (Ticker) -- Illinois-Chicago will make its first appearance in the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday when it visits Western Michigan for an opening round game at University Arena.
The Flames (21-8) had a six-game winning streak snapped on March 8 when they fell to Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the Horizon League tournament.
Western Michigan (19-10) won four straight games before crashing out of the Mid-American Conference tournament against Northern Illinois last Thursday.
The Broncos are making their first postseason appearance since 1998 and won their last meeting with the Flames, in 1995.
The winner of this game will face Siena in the first round after the Saints dispatched Villanova on Tuesday.
Four of Illinois-Chicago's starters average in double figures, led by junior guard Cedrick Banks with 19 points per game.
