ALBANY, New York (Ticker) -- A pair of 20-win teams seek the final spot in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament on Sunday night as Siena hosts Western Michigan at the Pepsi Center.
Siena opened the NIT with Tuesday's 74-59 win over shorthanded Villanova. It overcame a sub-par game from leading scorer Prosper Karangwa and used a barrage of 3-pointers in the second half.
Karangwa, was held to just 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting, but Tommy Mitchell scored 15 of his 23 points in the second half.
Western Michigan opened the NIT with a 63-62 home win over Illinois-Chicago on Wednesday.
Anthony Kann collected 19 points and 13 rebounds and made 1-of-2 free throws with five seconds left to give the Broncos their first NIT win.
Siena, which is 6-1 in the NIT at the Pepsi Arena, will host Alabama-Birmingham in the second round if it wins Sunday.
