CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Steve Logan felt right at home.

Logan, a Cleveland native, scored a season-high 21 points to lead top-ranked Cincinnati to a 75-68 victory over gritty Gonzaga in the Rock-N-Roll Shootout at Gund Arena.

Logan, a sophomore guard averaging 15 points per game, scored 10 in the first half, when Cincinnati opened a 42-25 lead. Overall, he made 6-of-8 shots, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range.

"We tried to be aggressive and stay focused," Logan said. "We came out in the second half lackadaisical when we had to put them away." While Logan attacked from outside, Kenyon Martin added 16 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for the unbeaten Bearcats (5-0), who were playing in this event for the fifth time but facing the Bulldogs for the first time.

"They played a good second half," Martin said. "We played hard the first half, but we got outplayed in the second half. If we knew why, we wouldn't let that happen." Richie Frahm scored 16 points for Gonzaga (4-1), which was dealt its first loss of the season. The Bulldogs never quit against the talented Bearcats, cutting the deficit to five in the second half before succumbing.

"The kids gained confidence in the second half," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. "We had it down to six a couple of times." "Give them credit. They came back, they really battled and we didn't," Cincinnati coach Bob Huggins said. "When we are constantly getting outrebounded (39-37), something's wrong. It's something we've got to try and fix. We had nine turnovers against no pressure in the first half. I'm embarrassed. I've never had a team play that lackadaisical. It's scary." Cincinnati scored the first eight points and never trailed. A 3-pointer by Logan widened the advantage to 21-7 with 11:25 left in the first half and consecutive 3-pointers by freshman Kenny Satterfield, Pete Mickeal and Logan pushed the margin to 34-17 with 5:10 to go.

"I don't know if it was the travel, but we've been starting slow all year," Few said. "They took away all of our strengths in the first half. If you don't come in and go after them, they will bury you. They're the real deal." A layup by Ryan Fletcher, who scored 13 points, gave the Bearcats their largest lead at 42-22 with 1:06 remaining. The Bulldogs began their comeback with a 3-pointer by Axel Dench to close the half.

In the first half, Cincinnati shot 50 percent (13-of-26) from the field and made all 12 free throws while holding Gonzaga to just 28 percent (9-of-32). The Bulldogs were just 3-of-9 from the line.

Logan opened the second half with two more 3-pointers and two free throws by Martin still had Cincinnati holding a 54-40 lead with 11:17 to play. Frahm and Matt Santangelo had 3-pointers in an 11-2 burst that cut the deficit to 56-51 with 8:44 left.

"We're not doing things we're supposed to do," Huggins said.

"It's such a lack of mental toughness. You guys had them and couldn't put them away." Gonzaga was still within six when Cincinnati rattled off seven straight points to open some breathing room. Two free throws by Fletcher gave the Bearcats a 65-52 bulge with 4:32 to go and began a stretch of 8-of-10 foul shots by Cincinnati in the final five minutes.

Mickeal scored eight points and Satterfield added six and six assists for the Bearcats, who shot 44 percent (22-of-50) and made 24-of-29 free throws. Cincinnati made 7-of-12 3-pointers.

Casey Calvary scored 13 points and Santangelo added 12 for the Bulldogs, who shot 39 percent (25-of-64), including just 8-of-23 from behind the arc.
