CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Troy Bell had 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds as Boston College remained on top of the East Division with an 83-61 victory over Big East Conference foe Virginia Tech.

The Eagles' third straight win puts them one-half game ahead of St. John's for the division lead.

Bell, a 43 percent shooter from 3-point range, was 0-for-7 from the arc but it did not hinder the rest of his game. The sophomore guard was 6-of-15 from the floor and did not turn the ball for the second straight game.

Kenny Harley and Xavier Singletary also scored 16 points apeice for Boston College and combined to shoot 12-of-23 from the floor and 6-of-11 from 3-point range. Brian Ross added a season-high 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting off the bench for the Eagles, who remained undefeated (12-0) at Conte Forum this season.

Boston College (15-2, 5-2 Big East East Division) trailed 13-6 early but used a 21-0 run to build a double-digit lead they would never relinquish. The Eagles led, 35-22, at halftime, and opened the second half with a 9-2 spurt to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles were 7-of-14 from long range in the final 20 minutes and committed just eight turnovers, their third straight game with less than 10.

Virginia Tech (8-11, 2-6) shot 53 percent (26-of-49), but committed 30 turnovers that led to 40 points for the Eagles.

Mibindo Dongo and Brian Chase scored 14 apiece for the Hokies and combined to shoot 12-of-18 from the floor. Joe Hamilton chipped in 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting off the bench for the Hokies, who had not played Boston College since the 1981-82 season.
