SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Steve Logan scored 21 points as fifth-seeded Cincinati cruised to an 84-59 romp over 12th-seeded Brigham Young in a first-round West Region game of the NCAA Tournament.

Logan had eight points in the first half, when Cincinnati (24-9) took a 35-30 lead. The Bearcats scored the first nine points of the second half, taking a 44-30 lead when Kenny Satterfield made a 3-pointer with 17:09 to play.

Satterfield finished with 14 points while reserve Antwan Jones and B.J. Grove each added 11 as Cincinnati shot 53 percent (27-of-51) and gave coach Bob Huggins his 300th career win. It also was the 1,400th win in school history for the Bearcats.

Cincinnati, which is playing in its 10th straight NCAA Tournament, faces Kent State in Saturday's second round. The Bearcats have won their first game in the tournament each of the last seven years. They had a 32-24 edge on the boards, improving to 13-1 this season when outrebounding an opponent.

Mikeli Wesley scored 25 points for Brigham Young (24-9), which shot 44 percent (21-of-48). Guards Trent Whiting and Terrell Lyday each added 12 points for the Cougars, who fell to 11-22 in in 19 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Nate Knight made a layup eight seconds into the game for his only points and BYU's only lead. Satterfield answered with a 3-pointer to put the Bearcats ahead with 18:15 left.

Cincinnati shot 58 percent (11-of-19) from behind the arc. The 11 3-pointers were the most allowed by the Cougars this season.

BYU made just 10-of-25 shots (40 percent) after the break. The Cougars did not score in the second half until Wesley made a layup with 16:51 remaining to cut the deficit to 44-32. Cincinnati answered with a 10-2 surge, pushing the lead to 54-34 on Donald Little's dunk with 13:58 to play.

Cincinnati's biggest lead was 80-51 after a 3-pointer by Field Williams with 3:19 to go.

The Bearcats' bench outscored BYU's, 31-8.
