BOZEMAN, Montana (Ticker) -- David Bell scored 16 points and Dan Trammel added 14 as Montana captured the Big Sky Conference tournament championship with a 70-66 triumph over Eastern Washington.
After a regular season that resulted in a sub-.500 record and fourth-place finish in the conference, Montana put it all together over the weekend and earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 1996-97 season.
Shane Christensen and Brent Cummings added 10 points apiece for Montana (15-14), which could draw a No. 16 seed when the brackets are announced Sunday.
T.J. Williams had 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for Eastern Washington (17-13), which was bidding for its first NCAA Tournament berth.
