CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- New coach, same result for Kent State.
Antonio Hudson scored 16 points as Kent State captured its second straight Mid-American Conference tournament title with a 70-59 victory over Bowling Green.
Kent State (27-6) recorded its 18th straight win despite losing coach Gary Waters to Rutgers. A former assistant at Michigan State, Heath stepped right in and the Golden Flashes have yet to skip a beat.
Keith McLeod scored 20 points to lead Bowling Green, which had a fabulous regular season that included wins over Mississippi, Michigan and Ball State. The Falcons (24-8) still have an excellent shot at earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
