EASTON, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Yale will have to wait another year to break the Princeton-Pennsylvania stranglehold on the Ivy League crown.

Koko Archibong scored 21 points and Ugonna Onyekwe added 16 as Pennsylvania routed Yale, 77-58, to win a one-game playoff for the Ivy League title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

"Real pleased and real fortunate to represent our conference and school in the tourney," Quakers coach Fran Dunphy said. "I think we are a little more veteran-like than Yale." Yale was trying to become the first team other than Penn or Princeton to reach the NCAA Tournament since Cornell in 1988. The Bulldogs finished in a three-way tie with the traditional powers and defeated the Tigers on Tuesday to earn the right to face the Quakers.

Penn had other ideas, scoring the first eight points and never looking back. The Quakers can look forward to their third NCAA Tournament appearance in four years.

"I thought we defended well and I thought we did a good job of setting the tone," Dunphy said.

Penn shot a sizzling 57 percent (16-of-28) in the first half in building a 37-25 halftime lead. The Bulldogs managed just nine baskets in the first 20 minutes.

Archibong used his athleticism to overwhelm Yale down low. He made 9-of-15 shots and also grabbed 16 rebounds.

"The story of the game (was) we had good looks at the basket that didn't go down and Koko," Bulldogs coach James Jones said.

The Quakers held a 42-30 rebounding edge, including 10 by Jeff Schiffner. Tim Begley made three 3-pointers and scored 13 points.

Josh Hill netted 14 points off the bench to lead Yale. The Bulldogs' starting five made just 8-of-39 shots as Yale forward Ime Archibong scored eight points on 1-of-8 shooting.

Yale has not reached the NCAA Tournament since 1962.
