RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Julius Hodge scored 24 points and Marcus Melvin added 15 as No. 25 North Carolina State cruised to a 104-65 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson to remain unbeaten at the RBC Center.
Freshman Cameron Bennerman contributed 14 points off the bench and Josh Powell had 12 for the Wolfpack (6-1), who bounced back from their only loss of the season - a 69-60 setback to Gonzaga in the Jimmy V Classic at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
"We're very happy with our performance," said Hodge, who made his first six shots in the opening half. "We came off a loss to Gonzaga in which we struggled. We got back to the basics in practice... shooting, blocking out and running our offense. We did all of those things today and we had guys coming off of the bench contributing to our success."
North Carolina State has won its six home games this season against weak opposition by an average of more than 25 points. The Wolfpack are off until taking on Wofford on December 29.
"We've been through a grueling schedule the last two weeks," coach Herb Sendek said. "Final exams at NC State are very intense. Our guys were studying long hours and we had some games and practices mixed in. Even today, I thought our guys were a little tired. We've really been through a heck of a stretch and I think it's good that we'll be able to take a couple of days for Christmas before we return to practice."
Lionel Bomayanko led Fairleigh Dickinson (4-3) with 20 points. Matt Hammond and Gordon Klaiber scored 11 apiece for the Knights, who have lost three of their last four games.
They played without starting point guard Marcus Whitaker, who did not make the trip from New Jersey because of back spasms.
Hodge scored nine points in a 20-6 run as the Wolfpack took a 25-10 lead with 11:47 left in the first half. They pushed their advantage to 51-27 on two free throws by Josh Powell with just under two minutes remaining and went into halftime up 55-31.
NC State went back on the offensive to start the second half, beginning with a 12-0 spurt to take a 67-31 lead with 17:46 left.
A two-handed slam from Melvin gave the Wolfpack a 91-51 lead with 7:23 remaining. Bennerman's dunk with just over a minute left gave NC State 100 points.
Scooter Sherrill scored 11 points and Clifford Crawford had eight and eight assists for the Wolfpack, who shot 58 percent (37-of-64) from the field, including 46 percent (11-of-24) from 3-point range.
NC State owned a 35-28 edge in rebounding, forced 23 turnovers and made 14 steals.
The Knights shot 42 percent (23-of-55), but made just 7-of-21 from beyond the arc.
