CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Romain Sato scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead five players in double figures for 20th-ranked Xavier, which remained perfect at home with an 84-60 rout of Eastern Kentucky.
Sato, who also grabbed 10 rebounds, made 4-of-7 shots from beyond the arc in the first half as the Musketeers (8-2) took a 44-22 lead. The Colonels (5-5) missed all seven shots from 3-point range during the opening 20 minutes.
"Coach told me, 'Just keep shooting,'" said Sato, who has averaged 26.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in his last three games.
Xavier won its 29th stright game when tied or leading at halftime under coach Thad Matta in those games.
"At times tonight, I though we were unselfish and got great shots and got the ball where we wanted it," Matta said.
Anthony Myles tallied a career-high 14 points and matched his career high with eight rebounds and David West chipped in 13 and 13 for Xavier, which improved to 6-0 at Cintas Center.
West recorded his sixth double-double of the season and 52nd of his career as the Musketeers won their 16th straight at home, where they have lost just twice in three seasons.
"When you get up so much in the first half, you expect that the other guys are going to lie down, but they didn't," West said.
Xavier opened the game on a 13-2 run and led by as many as 24 points, 44-20, in the first half.
Shawn Fields, a transfer from Georgia, scored 18 for Eastern Kentucky, which dropped its fourth in a row.
"We wanted to try to double-team all their post guys," Colonels coach Travis Ford said. "I though we did a good job of that. There were a few moral victories for us, coming up against a top-20 (team) like that. We had nothing to lose tonight."
Xavier guard Lionel Chalmers netted 12 points and Will Caulde added 10 in 16 minutes off the bench.
