MANHATTAN, Kansas (Ticker) -- Ebi Ere picked up Hollis Price for Oklahoma.
With Price having fouled out, Ere made three free throws in the final 17 seconds of overtime as the sixth-ranked Sooners edged Kansas State, 91-89, in a Big 12 Conference game.
Ere scored 25 points and Price added 22 as Oklahoma (15-3, 6-1 Big 12) won its fifth straight game. Ere made 1-of-2 free throws to give the Sooners an 89-87 lead with 17 seconds remaining. After missing the second, he got a long rebound and made two more free throws for a 91-87 lead six seconds later.
Marques Hayden made a driving layup with 4.9 seconds to go and was fouled by Oklahoma center Jozsef Szendrei. With the Wildcats trailing by two points, Hayden intentionally missed the free throw. Jarrett Hart got the rebound, but missed a layup as he was covered by Szendrei.
Matt Siebrandt scored 23 points and Hart added 18 off the bench for Kansas State (11-8, 2-4), which has lost three of its last four games.
Price scored 22 points, making 3-of-7 3-pointers, before picking up his fifth foul with 1:48 to go. Quannas White contributed 19 points and freshman Kevin Bookout added 16 for the Sooners, who shot 54 percent (31-of-57) and won for the ninth time in 10 games.
Bookout made 7-of-10 shots, including a short jumper with 22 seconds left in regulation to give Oklahoma an 82-79 edge.
Kansas State pushed the ball upcourt and Hart drove the lane to take a layup. Fortunately for the Wildcats, Hart's shot was well off and the rebound went to Tim Ellis, who nailed a 3-pointer from the left wing with one-tenth of a second left.
Ere, who hit 11-of-15 free throws, made a pair with 4:05 left in overtime to give the Sooners an 84-82 edge. Ellis, who had 11 points, made a jumper from the left wing to tie the score with 3:11 remaining.
Frank Richards and Szendrei traded layups before Price fouled out. Richards then made 1-of-2 free throws, giving the Wildcats an 87-86 edge.
White responded with a pair from the line to put the Sooners ahead, 88-87, with 1:35 to go. Ere came up with a key rebound after a missed jumper by Ellis. White missed a shot on Oklahoma's possession, but Szendrei got the rebound and got the ball to Ere, who was fouled with 17 seconds left.
Oklahoma center Jabahri Brown returned after missing the last two games due to a death in the family. Brown fouled with five points and four rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
The foul-plagued affair saw three Sooners and two Wildcats foul out. Price, Brown and Johnnie Gilbert all were disqualified for Oklahoma and Siebrandt and Gilson DeJesus both picked up five fouls for Kansas State.
