LAS VEGAS (Ticker) -- Carl English made sure Nevada-Las Vegas' season would end disappointingly.
English scored 20 points for the 14th time this season and hit a key basket as Hawaii defeated UNLV, 85-68, in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Michael Kuebler had 21 points to pace the Rainbow Warriors (19-11), who will meet Minnesota in the second round of the tournament.

The Runnin' Rebels (21-11) scored the first 10 points of the second half to close within five, but English countered with a 3-pointer to stop the burst. He hit another shot from the arc to make it 56-44 with 13 1/2 minutes left.
The Rainbow Warriors, who shot 56 percent (29-of-52), including 70 percent in the first half (21-of-30), stretched their lead to as many as 19 points down the stretch.
Marcus Banks scored 22 points and Dalron Johnson added 18 for UNLV, which lost in the Mountain West Conference tournament championship game to Colorado State on Saturday, 62-61, on a basket with 5.7 seconds left.
