With the announcement of Michael Jordan's retirement, the Glance has been thrown into a tizzy. For once, we are left with questions -- not answers -- on our mind, some Jordan-related, others from around college hoops:

Where does MJ rank among all-time college players?

With Jordan finished and Scottie Pippen likely on his way out of town, too, is DePaul freshman Quentin Richardson the best basketball player in Chicago?

Heck, could the Blue Demons show up at the United Center in two weeks and beat the now-crippled Bulls?

Will the real Mateen Cleaves please stand up?

Would someone please explain the phenomenon known as the Auburn Tigers?

Can the Connecticut women's team psychologically rebound from its 92-81 home loss last weekend to Tennessee sufficiently to beat the Lady Vols come March?

With so much talent and so much parity in the Big Ten this season, will any team win 10 league games?

Will Georgetown legend John Thompson be remembered best for his 1984 NCAA title, his 1988 Olympic flop, his knack for developing great big men -- or the college hoops fashion trend of T-shirts worn under player jerseys?

Is there any major conference less compelling right now than the Big 12?

More Big Ten: Though the conference currently holds seven spots in the Top 25, how many of those teams will make it past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament?

The Story Lines
Hoya Hoops, A.T. (After Thompson)
Perhaps former Georgetown coach John Thompson will consider a permanent spot in an MCI Center luxury box. His presence there -- not on the bench -- Saturday inspired his previously lackluster Hoyas to a 75-70 upset of Providence. Even Monday night's 71-69 loss to St. John's in New York was a moral victory for the spirited Hoyas.
Others receiving votes
The majority of traditionally ranked teams in the Top 25 are overrated and uninspiring. Hey, poll voters: why don't you give a few of this week's less notable "Others" a chance? A spot in the rankings would mean a lot more to Gonzaga, College of Charleston or Creighton. Those teams can find solace knowing they'll likely upset a "name" program when it counts -- in March.

The William Avery Watch

Todd Warshaw/Allsport
If Duke is to capitalize on its talent and return to the Final Four for the first time since 1994, the sophomore point guard -- an erratic reserve last season -- will have to mature into the starting lead guard. Can he abandon his trigger-happy tendencies and be the assist man that the Blue Devils need him to be? CNN/SI charts his progress throughout the season.
Stats:
Last game: Jan. 10 vs. Virginia
Assists: 6 (Season: 102, 6.4 apg)
Turnovers: 2 (Season: 38)
FGs Made-Attempted: 5-8 (Season: 76-158, 48.1%)
Result: Duke wins, 115-69 (Season record: 15-1)
This Week: Jan. 13 at Wake Forest, Jan. 16 vs. Florida St.

CNN/SI Week at a Glance is released every Tuesday throughout the college basketball season.
