CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- Luke Recker, who announced last week he's leaving Indiana after two seasons, will visit North Carolina as a possible transfer destination.

Recker, at 6-foot-6 and averaging 16 points per game last season, will make an official recruiting trip to Chapel Hill this weekend to see if he wants to play for coach Bill Guthridge.

The second-team all-Big Ten selection and former Indiana high school Mr. Basketball reportedly also is considering Iowa and Florida.

North Carolina signed West Charlotte prep standout Jason Parker to a letter of intent last week. But if Recker commits to UNC and Parker qualifies academically, the Tar Heels won't have a scholarship to offer Recker next season unless someone leaves the program.

Recker will have to sit out one year in accordance with NCAA transfer requirements. He could conceivably attend North Carolina as a walk-on next year and receive a scholarship in 2000-01.
