DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Duke freshman Corey Maggette reportedly is weighing a jump to the NBA, which would make him the third Blue Devils player this spring to leave school early for the pros.

Elton Brand and Will Avery already have announced they are leaving.

Maggette recently visited his former school, Fenwick High in Oak Park, Ill., and students and teachers asked him whether he would return to Duke or bolt to the NBA, The News & Observer of Raleigh reported. Fenwick coach John Quinn said Maggette responded: "I don't know yet," the newspaper said.

Maggette and his parents, who could not be reached for comment, were believed to have been in Durham last weekend to discuss Maggette's draft status with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, the newspaper said.

Krzyzewski said in a radio interview Tuesday night that he does not know what Maggette's plans are.

Maggette, a 6-foot-6 forward, is considered a high first-round pick even though he was a reserve at Duke and NBA scouting director Marty Blake said dismissively, "He's had one good game."

The deadline for underclassmen to send a letter to NBA commissioner David Stern declaring for the draft is May 16.

Even if Maggette declares for the draft, he still could play for Duke and retain his collegiate eligibility if he doesn't sign with an agent and pulls out a week before the June 30 draft.
