AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Adam Harrington, North Carolina State's leading scorer last season, is transferring to Auburn. Auburn officials expected to receive the paperwork on Harrington sometime Thursday, The Birmingham News reported. Harrington, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 11.6 points for the Wolfpack last season. He led the team in scoring eight times, including a career-high 26-point effort in a loss to Duke. He was also named to the Atlantic Coast Conference's all-freshman team. Harrington will have to sit out one year before he is eligible to play for Auburn. He will have three years eligibility remaining beginning in the 2000-2001 season. Harrington averaged 32.9 points and 12.2 rebounds as a senior at Pioneer Valley Regional High School in Bernardston, Mass., when he was named USA Today's Player of the Year in Massachusetts. Harrington joins point guard Jamison Brewer and forward Marquis Daniels as Auburn's three signees. The Tigers had their best season in school history last year, going 29-4. The lost only one starter to graduation and return Southeastern Conference Player of the Year Chris Porter.
