STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut guard Shea Ralph underwent minor surgery this week on her right knee.

UConn spokeswoman Jodi Hoatson would not comment on why Ralph underwent the arthroscopic procedure Wednesday, saying only that the senior guard didn't suffer a new injury. Ralph missed the postseason of her freshman year and all of her sophomore season after twice tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.

"She came out of the surgery very well," said Dr. Jeffrey Anderson, director of sports medicine at UConn. "We will allow her to return to activity as her symptoms permit."

Doctors could not say if Ralph will be ready to play in time for the Nov. 21 season opener.

Ralph, the Big East Tournament MVP, had 503 points last year, shooting 59 percent from the floor.
