LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Top-seeded Utah went on a 15-2 run midway through the second half to put away second-seeded Brigham Young 61-47 to win the Mountain West Conference tournament Saturday night.

Lauren Beckman led the Utes (23-7) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Amy Ewert and Kristina Andersen each added 10 points. Tiana Fuertes had nine assists and was named tournament MVP.

Erin Thorn led BYU (22-8) with 13 points and Lori Cuff added 12 points.

Five players, led by Beckman with five points, scored for Utah during its game-clinching run that built the lead to 51-27 with 7:36 left in the game.

The Utes led 32-21 after finishing the half on a 9-2 run. Amy Ewert hit two free throws and added a layup at the buzzer to lead the way. Earlier in the first half, Utah had a 10-0 run to go up 23-13 with 8:43 left.

It was the second straight loss for BYU on Saturday. The Cougars lost 79-56 to UNLV in the men's finals earlier in the evening.
