SEATTLE -- You meet some neat people in this business, and for me one of the finest was Oklahoma State media relations coordinator Will Hancock, who was among the passengers on the OSU plane that crashed last Saturday in Colorado.

Always quick with a smile, Will was an ace at his job, but most of all he had the kind of relaxed affability that made him special, genuine. Whenever Will and I talked, the subject invariably got off basketball, to his baby girl, Andie, born last November, or to our shared love of soccer (his wife, Karen, is the OSU women's coach), or to memories of the high school we both attended back home in Kansas.

Thrill was the real thing -- in other words, the kind of person you were glad you knew. My condolences go out to Karen, Andie and the rest of the Hancock family, as well as all the families and friends who so tragically lost loved ones last weekend.
