HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) -- Seton Hall might lose freshman forward Eddie Griffin to the NBA.

The 6-foot-9 Griffin is "very close" to declaring his eligibility for the NBA draft, The Record of Bergen County reported Wednesday.

Marvin Powell, Griffin's older brother and adviser, said Tuesday that Griffin was still considering his options.

"We're having a family meeting shortly and Eddie talked to his coach, but there is a strong chance he may be going," he said.

The report, which cited unidentified sources, said Griffin met with Pirates coach Tommy Amaker on Tuesday and has told a few teammates he is ready to leave.

Amaker, who said his meeting with Griffin was one of many he has scheduled this week with all his players, disputed the report. "He hasn't indicated to me all of his intentions yet," Amaker said Tuesday.

Seton Hall spokeswoman Marie Wozniak said Wednesday she had no knowledge of Griffin leaving.

Griffin, who earned national player of the year honors at Philadelphia Roman Catholic High School before going to Seton Hall, led the Pirates with 17.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game and was named Big East Rookie of the Year this season.
