ACC-Big Ten Challenge set Duke and Iowa highlight two day event in NovemberUpdated: Tuesday June 19, 2001 4:33 PM
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Defending NCAA champion Duke will face Iowa while North Carolina and Indiana will meet for only the second time in 13 years in the third annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Blue Devils, who won the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament title and shared the regular-season title with the Tar Heels, will face the Big Ten tournament champion Hawkeyes at the United Center in Chicago on Nov. 27. Also on Nov. 27, Illinois travels to Maryland, a Final Four participant from last season; North Carolina State travels to Ohio State; and Minnesota plays at Wake Forest. Indiana, which is appearing in the Challenge for the first time along with Ohio State, travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., on Nov. 28. Indiana leads the series 6-4. Also on Nov. 28, Michigan State - another Final Four member from last season - plays Virginia at Richmond, Va.; Wisconsin travels to Georgia Tech; and Florida State faces Northwestern. A date and time for the Clemson-Penn State game in State College, Pa., has yet to be determined.
