Bruin forward ineligible for fall semester

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- UCLA forward Andre Patterson is academically
ineligible for the fall quarter.
Patterson, who lettered as a true freshman last season, is now
enrolled at Santa Monica City College. His academic progress will
be reviewed after the semester ends Dec. 17.
The winter quarter at UCLA begins Jan. 6, but Patterson could
play before then if he meets academic requirements.
Patterson averaged 2.3 points in 29 games for UCLA last season.
"We hope that Andre is able to return to our team before the
end of the season," UCLA coach Steve Lavin said in a statement
issued Friday. "The most important thing for him right now is to
focus on his academics. That's what Andre is currently
concentrating on so he can come back to UCLA and rejoin the team."
