EL PASO, Texas (AP) -- Texas-El Paso men's basketball coach Billy Gillispie was arrested Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated, police said.

Detective Darrel Petry said Gillispie was stopped for a traffic violation about 2:25 a.m. He said Gillispie was driving the wrong way on a one-way street and was subsequently arrested.

Gillispie was released from the El Paso County Jail on bond of $750.

In a statement, UTEP assistant athletic director Jeff Darby said: "We have not received all of the details of the incident involving Billy Gillispie and local authorities. We are in the process of gathering information. We will refrain from commenting until we feel that we can make a response."

Gillispie coached UTEP (4-12, 2-5 Western Athletic) to a 85-78 overtime win over Boise State on Saturday.

He replaced Jason Rabedeaux, who resigned for personal reasons less than three weeks before the team's first game.
