College lists from Nike campers Posted: Sunday July 07, 2002 3:19 PMUpdated: Sunday July 07, 2002 3:22 PM By Dave Telep, TheInsidersHoops.com INDIANAPOLIS -- Blake Adams, a shooter from Houston Select, says that TCU is now the team to beat for his services. "I just started to feel that TCU is shooting me straight," Adams said. He visited Oklahoma State and also likes Virginia, UNLV and Arkansas. "We'll see what happens after the camp." Forward C.J. Anderson of Cincinnati says he has offers from Georgetown, Marquette and Cincinnati. DePaul, Xavier (currently out of grants). Nebraska and Michigan State are also on his list.
The real news here is that Anderson won't be picking a college this year. Instead, he's going to attend prep school (Hargrave?) for a season. Anderson said that his ninth grade academic year wasn't so good. Rising junior guard Steve Neal recently attended camps at Minnesota and Wisconsin and says that both programs are recruiting him. Makes sense to us -- this is one athletic kid. Sonny Troutman says that Southern Illinois has offered him a scholarship. He also lists Michigan State, Iowa State, Iowa and Butler. He averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists last year. Sources told TheInsidersHoops.com that Vakeaton Wafer is looking strongly at Indiana and is actively considering Florida, Texas and Charlotte. Apparently Arkansas is starting to do more with him as well. More schools are calling on a daily basis, but we hear Seton Hall, Oklahoma, Texas and Mississippi are the main schools right now for PG Andrew Lavender. Oklahoma you say? Sure, the Sooners would love to play him in the same backcourt with recently committed guard Lawrence McKenzie. Was that rising junior D.J. White, a big time IU target, wearing an Indiana jersey in the lobby of the player's hotel? It sure was. For more coverage of the Nike All-America Camp, please visit TheInsidersHoops.com.
