Site: Pauley Pavilion, Los Angeles

Tournament MVP: Cheryl Miller, Southern California

USC outdanced, outflashed, outpassed and outscored Tennessee for its second title in a row. Twin sisters Pam and Paula McGee tossed in 17 points apiece and Miller added 16, six rebounds and seven assists.

High Scorer: Tennessee's Mary Ostrowski averaged 22.6 points over five games.

They Said It: "See, the team doesn't get started 'till Miller shows up with her box. We hate to stretch before games, so we dance. Gets us real loose. Robot. Backslide. Moonwalk. Even Coach [Linda] Sharp dances," said Miller during the tournament on the team's strange way of loosening up before games.

Interesting Facts: The crosstown Lakers' Showtime aura rubbed off on Southern Cal. Tom Selleck was a supporter, as were Michael Warren and Patricia Hamel of Hill Street Blues. Magic Johnson hung out with the McGee sisters. And during the Grammy Awards show in February, Miller was invited to slam a ball through a basket during a Donna Summer number.

SI's Take: "The Trojan women, especially Miller and the 6'3", 170-pound McGee twins, Pamela and Paula -- perfect [size] 10s -- have never had a hard time getting a table any place in town. That's thanks to the sports information department of USC, a.k.a. the University of Social Calendars, which believes more in personal appearances than press releases and works with the school's women athletes on grooming and etiquette and critiques all interviews."

Record-setters: Georgia established the record for field goals in a game with 50 versus Louisville in a 112-69 win.

On the Tube: The McGees appeared on Thicke of the Night and easily beat actors Alan Thicke and Elliott Gould in a game of two-on-two.

All-Tournament Team: Cheryl Miller, Southern California; Pam McGee, Southern California; Paula McGee, Southern California; Janice Lawrence, Louisiana Tech; Mary Ostrowski, Tennessee.
