Tournament MVP: Tracy Claxton, Old Dominion

Old Dominion won its third national championship despite shooting 38.2 percent from the floor. The Lady Monarchs shut down All-Americas Janet Harris and Katrina McClain, who combined for seven points in the second half.

High Scorer: Lillie Mason of Western Kentucky averaged 23.3 points over four games.

They Said It: "I have no gurus or anything like that. I just pick up what I can as I go along from both men and women's clinics. Women can coach this game, you know," Old Dominion coach Marianne Stanley said after winning the title.

SI's Take: "Those who doubt that women can be master strategists didn't catch Marianne Stanley's act on Sunday. During a timeout the Old Dominion coach hurriedly designed one of her pet 'junk defenses' and that proved to be the turning point of the Lady Monarchs' game with Georgia. Was it a box-and-one? Matchup? Triangle-and-two? Diamond? Nobody knew except Stanley."

Record-setters: Claxton hauled in 72 rebounds, the most for a tournament series.

All-Tournament Team: Tracy Claxton, Old Dominion; Medina Dixon, Old Dominion; Teresa Edwards, Georgia, Katrina McClain, Georgia; Lillie Mason, Western Kentucky.
