KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Lisa Griffith scored 19 points and keyed a 15-4 run early in the second half to spark No. 21 Arizona to a 73-61 win over Kent Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Mideast Regional.

Arizona (25-6) led 37-29 at halftime before Griffith hit three 3-pointers during the Wildcat run to give Arizona a 52-33 lead less than three minutes into the second half. LaKeisha Taylor gave the Wildcats their biggest lead at 60-37 on a layup with 13 minutes left.

Kent (25-6) would not go away, however. After Arizona took its largest lead of 23, Kent went on a 14-0 run and pulled to within five at 66-61 on a jumper by Carrie Nance with 1:50 left.

After closing the gap to five, Kent did not score again the rest of the way. Julie Studer led Kent with 20 points.
