Tournament MVP: Rebecca Lobo, Connecticut The Huskies, trying to keep their perfect season intact, fell behind early as two of their All-Americas -- 5'5" junior point guard Jennifer Rizzotti and 6'4" senior forward Rebecca Lobo -- had three fouls apiece in the first 14 minutes. With center Kara Wolters also battling foul trouble, the Huskies found themselves down by six points at the half.

Trailing by four with 11 minutes to play, UConn fed the ball to Lobo. She promptly scored on seven straight possessions before Rizzotti drilled the pivotal bucket with 1:51 remaining.

High Scorer: Tennessee's Dana Johnson averaged 19.3 points over six games.

They Said It: "The other teams here are playing for a national championship," UConn head coach Geno Auriemma told his team before their first tournament game. "We're playing for a piece of history."

Interesting Fact: UConn became just the second team to close out a perfect season with a title. The other? The 1985-86 Lady Longhorns of Texas (34-0).

No Revenge: The Huskies also knocked off Tennessee earlier in the season, 77-66, a game in which the Lady Vols lost their No. 1 ranking.

SI's Take: "The Lady Vols learned this about the Huskies: They don't give you more than one chance to knock them out. There are close-knit teams, and there is Connecticut. The Huskies attend Mass together, tailgate together and play charades together."

Record-Setters: In four games, Virginia's Wendy Palmer set the mark for highest tournament rebounding average (15.0). Virginia's Monick Foote set the record for most three-point field goals made in a game with seven versus Florida. Alabama's Neisa Johnson launched a record 18 three-pointers (making four) versus Duke. Alabama scored the most points in a game, beating Duke 121-120 in four overtimes.
