Ideally, a point guard is the team's leader on and off the court, a vocal leader and a leader by example. Fortunately for Notre Dame, Ivey is all those things.
The Fighting Irish have a talented lineup, (ranked in the top 5 this season) and Ivey is clearly their floor general. She does a little bit of everything and whatever is needed, leading the team in assists and steals and third in points and rebounds.
In Notre Dame's upset of No. 1 Connecticut on January 15, Ivey scored 14 points and dished out 10 assists while breaking down the Huskies' press.
Ivey's career didn't start smoothly at Notre Dame. She tore her ACL just five games into her first season (1996-97), and then tore her left ACL at the 1999 Big East tournament. But all the work to get back on the court and to become one of the nation's top point guard may pay off in a national title.
