The Scarlet Knights (24-7) used a stifling defense in the second half to shut down Holy Cross, which was within 41-37 at the break. After allowing the Crusaders to shoot 52 percent (13-of-25) in the first half, Rutgers' vaunted 2-3 zone limited them to 37 percent shooting (10-of-27) in the second half. Anna Kinne led Holy Cross (23-8) with 28 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 6-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc. Tasha Pointer added 11 points and eight assists for Rutgers, which will host St. Joseph's in the second round on Sunday The Lady Knights stumbled one step short of the Final Four last year, losing in the regional final to eventual national champion Purdue, 75-62.
