BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- April Brown almost singlehandedly outscored Stephen F. Austin in the second half as third-seeded Louisiana State rallied for a 57-45 victory in a second-round East Region game.

Held to two points in the first half, Brown had 11 on 5-of-7 shooting over the final 20 minutes, when LSU (24-6) limited Stephen F. Austin to 14 points.

Brown finished with 13 points to lead a balanced attack that carried the Tigers back to the "Sweet 16" for the third time in four years. They will face Western Kentucky or Duke on Saturday in Richmond, Virginia.

DeTrina White had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Marie Ferdinand added 11, seven, six assists and six steals for LSU.

A driving layup by Stephanie Whitmore gave the Ladyjacks (27-5) a 35-24 lead with 15:43 remaining. But LSU scored the next 18 points to take charge.

Katrina Hibbert started the run with an 18-foot jumper and a 15-footer by Angelia Crockett gave the Tigers a 42-35 cushion with 8:38 left.

Stephen F. Austin went more than nine minutes without a basket until Tekeniesha Henry hit a jumper from the left side with 6:23 to play.

Henry scored 11 points and Whitmore and Shawnta Johnson added 10 apiece for the Ladyjacks, who made 6-of-30 shots in the second half and shot 33 percent (19-of-58) overall.
