WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- Camille Cooper was 7-of-8 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line en route to 21 points in 29 minutes as sixth-ranked Purdue opened its season with an 84-60 triumph over Eastern Michigan in the Preseason WNIT.

Kelly Komara also shot well, making all five of her shots from the field. Komara finished with 15 points and five rebounds for the Boilermakers, who made 57 percent (16-of-28) of their attempts in the opening half.

Purdue actually shot better from 3-point range (3-of-3) than it did from the free throw line (6-of-12) in the first half. But the Boilermakers opened a 10-point lead midway through the half and maintained a double-digit advantage into the intermission.

Cooper had 15 of her points in the opening 20 minutes while Kristy Maska led Eastern Michigan with 12.

Purdue turned up its defensive intensity in the second half, holding the Eagles to 36 percent (8-of-22) shooting. The Boilermakers also got considerably better at the free throw line, making 13-of-14 attempts.

Maska finished with 18 points, on 6-of-12 shooting from 3-point range. Stephanie Smiley chipped in 15 points and Kris Kachaturoff added 14 for Eastern Michigan.
