WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- Katie Douglas scored seven of her 22 points in a run late in the first half that gave No. 6 Purdue a double-digit lead on the way to an 81-67 victory over Georgetown in the second round of the Preseason WNIT.

Kelly Komara missed a shot for the first time this season, going 5-of-6 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line for 21 points, while freshman guard Erika Varek dished out four assists for the Boilermakers (2-0).

Katie Smrcka-Duffy led the way for the Hoyas (1-1) with 18 points and nine assists. Shawntese Charles scored 14 points and Rebekkah Brunson added 12.

The Boilermakers, who return their top five scorers from last season, broke out to a 10-2 lead but saw the Hoyas fight back to take an 18-17 lead with 10:52 left in the first half.

Freshman forward Shalicia Hurns made a pair of free throws to put Purdue back on top, and sophomore center Mary Jo Noon hit 1-of-2 from the line before scoring in the paint.

After Nathalie Bourdereau's basket for Georgetown, Douglas hit back-to-back buckets and Komara nailed a 3-pointer, stretching the Boilermakers' lead to 29-20. ZsuZsanna Horvath hit for the Hoyas, but Douglas drilled a 3-pointer and Purdue was up 32-22 with 4:06 to go before halftime.

Purdue led by as many as 16 points in the first half and by 19 in the second, never letting Georgetown get closer than 10 after the break.
