ANN ARBOR, Michigan (Ticker) -- Raina Goodrow and Annie Thorius made three free throws in the final 20 seconds, leading Michigan to a 69-66 upset of No. 8 Louisiana Tech.
Raina Goodlow gave Michigan a 67-66 lead with under 20 seconds remaining by hitting 1-of-2 free throws. A technical foul on Louisiana Tech coach Len Barmore led to a pair of free throws by Anne Thorius.
Essence Perry had a chance to send the game into overtime for the Lady Techsters (1-1) but missed a 3-pointer as time expired.
Goodlow scored 17 points and Thorius and Alayne Ingram added 14 apiece for Michigan (1-0), which outscored the Lady Techsters, 46-38, in the second half. The Wolverines won despite shooting just 38 percent (20-of-53).
Coming off a victory over Chattanooga in the Preseason WNIT, Louisiana Tech was led by Ayana Walker, who scored 18 points.
Louisiana Tech shot 38.5 percent (25-of-65).
