AMES, Iowa (Ticker) -- Angie Welle scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as 11th-ranked Iowa State held off Creighton, 74-71.
Welle was 5-of-9 from the floor and 8-of-13 at the line to pace four Cyclones (3-0) in double figures. Taylor Megan scored 16 points, Lindsey Wilson added 11 and Tracy Gahan 10 for Iowa State, which led 38-36 at halftime but was unable to pull away after intermission.
The feisty Blue Jays (2-1) were led by Angela Timmons' 23 points and scored 15 points off turnovers, remaining within striking distance throughout.
Kelly Cizek had eight points and 10 boards off the bench for Iowa State, which shot 43 percent (25-of-58) and held a 44-33 rebounding advantage.
Taya Allen had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Creighton, which shot 39 percent (24-of-62) and drilled 11-of-26 3-pointers.
