SANTA BARBARA, California (Ticker) -- Jess Hansen scored 26 points, drilling 6-of-8 3-pointers, leading Santa Barbara to a 78-66 upset of 24th-ranked Virginia.
Hansen made 7-of-12 shots overall but was deadly from long range as the Gauchos (5-5) made 9-of-17 shots from beyond the arc.
Nicole Greathouse scored 15 points and Lisa Willett added 10 off the bench for Santa Barbara, which shot 43 percent (25-of-58) and outscored the Cavaliers, 36-27, in the second half.
Telisha Quarles scored 17 points for Virginia (8-4), which had a four-game winning streak snapped and could fall out of the top 25.
Schuye LaRue had 15 points and 20 rebounds and Marci Dickson had 10 points for Virginia, which shot 39 percent (24-of-62) and went 5-of-19 from 3-point range. The Cavaliers held a 44-41 rebounding advantage but committed 21 turnovers while forcing 14.
