DES MOINES, Iowa (Ticker) -- Kristin Santa made the go-ahead basket with 1:05 remaining and Stephanie Schmitz added four free throws down the stretch as Drake rallied for a 66-63 Missouri Valley Conference victory over No. 15 Southwest Missouri State.

The Bulldogs (7-3, 2-0 MVC) trailed by 14 points in the first half and 47-35 with just over 14 minutes to go before putting together a 24-8 spurt featuring 12 points from Carla Bennett. Molly Nelson's short jumper gave Drake a 59-55 lead with 4:02 left.

A layup by Tara Mitchem gave the Bears (7-3, 1-1) a 60-60 tie but Santa scored 37 seconds later. Schmitz made a pair from the line with 16 seconds to go and two more with 2.5 seconds left to seal Drake's third straight win.

Bennett had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Schmitz scored 19 points and Nelson added 13 for the Bulldogs, who shot 38 percent (22-of-58) from the field but held the Bears to just 36 percent (26-of-73). Santa scored eight points.

Jackie Stiles scored 23 points, Carly Deer added 13 and 11 rebounds and Mitchem had 10 and 13 for the Bears, who held a 47-43 rebounding advantage and committed just eight turnovers.

Erika Rante's jumper capped a 9-0 run and gave State a 31-17 lead with 3:46 left in the first half. Drake closed to 35-27 at halftime but Mitchem's jumper rebuilt the advantage to 12 points early in the second half.
