BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Michelle Snow hit a jumper at the buzzer as second-ranked Tennessee posted a dramatic 77-75 Southeastern Conference victory over No. 12 Louisiana State.
With Rutgers handing Notre Dame its first loss on Saturday, Tennessee (26-1, 12-0 SEC) likely will take over the top ranking from the Fighting Irish.
The Lady Volunteers have reeled off 15 straight victories since their only loss at Connecticut on December 30.
Trailing 73-70, LSU tied it on April Brown's jumper and a foul shot by Ke-Ke Tardy with 56 seconds left. Roneeka Hodges had a chance to give the Fighting Tigers (17-8, 7-5) the lead but missed a pair from the line with 30 seconds remaining.
Gwen Jackson led five players in double figures for Tennessee with 16 points, while Semeka Randall and Snow added 14 apiece.
April Brown scored 21 points and Marie Ferdinand added 17 for LSU, which has dropped two straight. The Fighting Tigers suffered an 89-70 loss at Tennessee on January 4.
LSU took a 70-68 lead on two free throws by Kisha James with 3:58 left but the Lady Vols scored five straight points to go up 73-70 on Randall's foul shot with 2:17 to go.
