AMES, Iowa (Ticker) -- Angie Welle led five players in double figures with 23 points as Iowa State cruised to a 100-61 first-round NCAA Tournament victory over Howard in the Midwest Region.

Iowa State (26-5) won its 19th straight game at home and will face Missouri in the second round on Sunday.

Welle made 9-of-11 shots in just 20 minutes, sitting out most of the second half. The Cyclones took a 51-21 lead at halftime and used their bench liberally in the final 20 minutes.

Lindsay Wilson and Erica Junod each scored 13 points for Iowa State, which shot 57 percent (36-of-63). The Lady Cyclones also made 22-of-26 free throws, including 5-of-6 by Welle.

Erica Haugen was the lone Cyclone starter not in double figures, but she registered 11 assists and five steals. Welle grabbed 11 rebounds as Iowa State held a 47-31 edge on the glass.

Howard (21-10) was led by Chanell Washington, who scored 20 points. Andrea Gardner, the nation's leading rebounder, added 19 points but was held to eight boards.

The Lady Bison, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champions, shot just 34 percent (23-of-68) and misfired on 15-of-19 3-point attempts.

Iowa State also earned a measure of revenge for its men's team, which also was a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament but fell to MEAC champion Hampton on Thursday.
