LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Plenette Pierson scored 19 points for No. 2 seeded and 13th-ranked Texas Tech with a 100-57 win over 15th seeded Pennsylvania in the first round of the NCAA tournament and ended a NCAA-best 21-game win streak.

The Lady Raiders (24-6) spoiled Penn's first ever NCAA tournament appearance by shooting 51 percent on 36-of-70 shooting. The team converted 8-of-17 shots from behind the arc and dominated the boards with a 44-31 advantage.

In its 12th consecutive bid to the tournament, Texas Tech scored 40 points in the paint compared to just 14 for Penn. They grabbed 32 points off 21 Penn turnovers and posted 20 fast break points, to only two for Penn.

Pennsylvania (22-6) shot 37 percent (21-of-56) and dished only 12 assists for the game.

Diana Caramanico was the only other Penn player to notch double figures. She had 15 points and nine rebounds. The starters went 15-of-38 from the floor and 2-of-8 from 3-point range.

The team entered the game on a program and NCAA record 21-game win streak. They won the Ivy League conference with a 14-0 record.

Texas Tech improved to its seventh straight first round win. They won National title in 1993.
