CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Jennifer Phillips scored 20 points, including 12 at the free-throw line, as Xavier coasted in its NCAA Tournament opener with an 80-52 rout of Louisville in the first round of the Mideast Region.

Xavier (29-2) will face Clemson in the second round on Sunday.

Phillips, the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year, made just four field goals but took advantage of constant fouling by the Cardinals.

Nicole Levandusky made five 3-pointers on her way to 18 points while Amy Waugh added 11 off the bench for Xavier.

The Lady Musketeers won their school record 19th straight game despite a supbar effort from center Taru Tuukkanen, who finished with just seven points. Xavier compensated by converting 22-of-28 free throws.

Louisville (19-10) fell despite outscoring Xavier, 22-14, in the paint. Sara Nord scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Cardinals.

Carol Brown was the only other Cardinal in double figures with 12 points off the bench. Louisville shot 32 percent (22-of-69) and was outrebounded, 41-36.

The Cardinals fell to 3-8 in the NCAA Tournament.
