NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Nicole Powell had 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists as Stanford stunned George Washington with a 76-51 victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Powell made 7-of-10 shots from the field and was the anchor of a defense that completely shut down the Colonials' offense.

Stanford's offense, on the other hand, was superb. The Cardinal shot 56 percent (28-of-50) from the field and made 7-of-14 3-pointers.

Cori Enghusen scored a career-high 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Lindsey Yamasaki added nine points and seven assists for Stanford (19-10), which has won its only two meetings with George Washington.

The Cardinal has four players among the top 10 shot-blockers in the nation, but only two of their seven blocks came from one of those players. Meanwhile, Stanford completely shut down George Washington's formidable front line.

The trio of Erica Lawrence, Elena Vishniakova and Ugo Oha -- which combines to average 33 points and 15 rebounds -- was held to 24 points on 9-of-30 shooting. The Colonials, also known as a shot-blocking powerhouse, registered one block.

George Washington (22-10) shot just 26 percent (18-of-68), including 3-of-23 from 3-point range.

Corrin Reid scored 11 points and Kristenna Alexander chipped in 10 along with Lawrence, who missed all six of her 3-pointers.
