GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Megan Franza scored 11 of her 15 points in the first half as Washington built a 15-point lead en route to an 86-75 victory over third-seeded Florida in an NCAA Tournament West Region second-round game.

The Huskies (21-9) will meet the winner of Monday's game between Oklahoma and Stanford in the regional semifinals on Saturday in Spokane, Washington.

Making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998, sixth-seeded Washington needed a jumper by Loree Payne at the buzzer to beat Old Dominion, 67-65 in the first round.

But on Sunday, the Huskies built a 51-36 halftime lead and held off a late run by Florida (24-6).

Giuliana Mendiola led Washington with 18 points and Payne and Andrea Lalum added 14 apiece.

Brandi McCain, Florida's leading scorer at 19.8 points per game, scored 23 but was 8-of-29 from the field, including 7-of-26 from 3-point range.

The Huskies opened their biggest lead at 62-43 on a 10-foot jumper by Kellie O'Neill with 13:31 left.

But Florida responded with a 23-6 run as McCain connected on three 3-pointers and Vanessa Hayden hit a jumper, two layups and three free throws, pulling the Lady Gators within 70-66 with 4:24 left.

Lalum hit a short jumper and a hook shot to ignite a 10-3 run and Washington made 12 free throws in the final 3 1/2 minutes to seal the win.
