SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- Ruth Riley, the Naismith Award winner, scored 21 points as Notre Dame cruised past Michigan, 88-54, in an NCAA Tournament Midwest Region second-round game at the Joyce Center.

Riley was 8-of-11 from the field and has made 14-of-17 shots in Notre Dame's first two tournament games. She was 6-for-6 in Saturday's 98-49 first-round rout of Alcorn State.

Notre Dame (30-2) stretched its home winning streak to 38 games and reached the 30-win mark for the second time in school history. The Fighting Irish were 31-7 in 1996-97 and reached the Final Four.

"It was a perfect way to end my career here at the Joyce Center," Riley said. "It was so much fun to play in the tournament and see everyone come out and support us. Playing in the tournament at home is really something special." Kelley Siemon scored 16 points and Jeneka Joyce added 14 off the bench for Notre Dame, which shot 51.5 percent (34-of-66) from the field while holding Michigan (19-12) to 33 percent (23-of-70).

The top-seeded Fighting Irish advanced to the "Sweet 16" for the fourth time in the last five years and will take on Utah in the regional semifinals on Saturday in Denver.

Michigan (19-12) posted an 81-71 victory over Virginia in the opening round for the first NCAA Tournament win in school history, but the Wolverines were overwhelmed by Notre Dame, the nation's No. 2 team.

"Let's give Notre Dame credit," Michigan coach Sue Guevera said. "They had too much too quickly, and we just didn't have enough. We tried to throw everything we possibly could at them and they responded to everything we threw at them." Raina Goodlow scored 16 points and Stephanie Gandy and Jennifer Smith added 10 apiece for Michigan.
