The Wildcats briefly went ahead, 34-33, on Kristin Connolly's three-point play with 13:29 remaining. But Auburn (12-3, 2-2 SEC) took the lead for good, 35-34, on Smith's layup.

Kentucky (8-7, 1-3) closed to 64-61 on SeSe Helms' two free throws with 42 seconds left, but the Tigers held on by making six straight free throws in the final minute.
