VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Asjha Jones scored 19 points to lead a balanced attack as top-ranked Connecticut used red-hot shooting to remain unbeaten with a 93-60 victory over Villanova. Swin Cash scored 17 points and Diana Taurasi and Ashley Battle added 15 apiece for the Huskies (20-0, 6-0 Big East), who shot 61 percent (36-of-59) from the field. Jones made 7-of-11 shots, Cash made 7-of-12, Taurasi hit 5-of-9 and Battle 7-of-11. Tamika Williams was 4-of-4 and added 11 points. In the first half, Connecticut shot 64 percent (21-of-33) and bolted to a 53-34 lead. Villanova shot 39 percent (11-of-28). The Huskies have won their six conference games by an average of 93.0-44.2. Villanova's Trish Juhline shot like she was playing for UConn. She scored 21 points on 7-of-7 from the floor, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range. The Wildcats (10-6, 4-2) finished at 35 percent (20-of-57) and were outrebounded, 43-19. |
