FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (Ticker) -- India Lewis and Dana Cherry scored 17 points apiece as Arkansas upset No. 7 South Carolina, 74-46, in a Southeastern Conference matchup. Arkansas (11-8, 2-8 SEC) entered the contest having lost consecutive games and five of six, but limited South Carolina to 26 percent shooting (15-of-57) en route to its biggest win since an 85-57 triumph at Brigham Young on January 2. The Razorbacks jumped out to a 35-24 halftime lead after holding the Gamecocks to 33 percent (9-of-27) from the floor, and turned up the defensive pressure even further, forcing South Carolina into 20 percent (6-of-30) shooting over the final 20 minutes. Shameka Christon added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Razorbacks, who converted 26 Gamecocks turnovers into 31 points. South Carolina (17-3, 5-2) lost for the second time in three games. Not one player reached double figures for the Gamecocks. Tatyana Troina led the team with nine points but shot 3-of-13, including 3-of-11 from the arc. Petra Ujhelyi added seven points and 11 rebounds. |
