RUSTON, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Cheryl Ford led five players in double figures as seventh-ranked Louisiana Tech cruised to an 82-36 Western Athletic Conference victory over Southern Methodist. Ford, the daughter of NBA superstar Karl Malone, shot 7-of-16 and grabbed 15 rebounds. The Lady Techsters (19-3, 14-0 WAC) outrebounded the Mustangs (9-15, 4-10), 74-36. Reserve Catrina Frierson added 13 points, while Ayana Walker, Brooke Lassiter and Amber Obaze had 11 apiece for Lousiana Tech, which won its 17th straight game. The Lady Techsters shot just 39 percent (34-of-88), but made 7-of-18 3-pointers. Shanta Ramdhanny led SMU with nine points and Kaci Alexander added eight. The Mustangs shot 19 percent (11-of-59), including 1-of-15 from 3-point range. |
