NORFOLK, Virginia (Ticker) -- Lucienne Berthieu scored 20 points on 10-of-10 shooting as No. 23 Old Dominion clinched the Colonial Athletic Association title with a 67-43 rout of James Madison. A forward, Berthieu did all work inside 3-point range. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Entering the contest in the midst of a season--high 11-game winning streak, the Lady Monarchs (19-5, 15-0) were in control from the start Sunday, building a 22-4 lead less than 13 minutes into the contest. The Lady Monarchs held a 30-13 advantage at halftime. James Madison was its own worst enemy, shooting just 24 percent (5-of-21) in the half and 29 percent (14-of-49) overall. Tiffany Thompson added 11 points and Shareese Grant 10 for the Lady Monarchs, who shot 52 percent (27-of-52) and held a 38-27 rebounding advantage. Shanna Price scored 14 points and Nadine Morgan 10 to lead James Madison (15-9, 9-6). |
