CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Valeri King scored 16 points and added 11 assists to lead No. 23 Cincinnati to a 73-57 triumph over Kentucky. The Bearcats fell behind only once in the game when LaTonya McDole put Kentucky up 9-8 with 13:43 left in the first half. Cincinnati (22-4) followed with an 18-5 run, highlighted by three 3-pointers by King, for a 26-14 lead. King's second 3-pointer of the night marked the 1,000th point of her career at Cincinnati. King capped the first half with her fourth from beyond the arc with two seconds left, giving Cincinnati a 37-23 lead going into the locker room. Laura Wilder had 13 points and seven rebounds while K.B. Sharp added 11 points and 11 assists for the Bearcats, who posted their ninth straight victory. Carolyn Alexander, who finished with 10 points, scored on a layup with 2:49 to play, giving Cincinnati its biggest lead of the game at 71-49. SeSe Helm was the only player in double figures for Kentucky (8-17). Helm scored 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the floor and grabbed 10 rebounds. |
